Nature Watercolor Painting for Seniors
Relax and paint simple nature-inspired watercolor paintings step-by-step
This program is designed to be:
Easy to set-up and clean-up. Water-activated paints are reusable and easy to clean-up. Reuse is as simple as adding water, and clean-up is as easy as wiping with damp paper towel. I also keep my supplies minimal, and therefore do not use hairdryers for my lessons.
Gentle on the hands. Materials are lightweight and require no physical exertion to use, which is optimal for those who have limited physical strength.
A safe space for participants to play and explore. I guide them with gentle encouragement and constructive feedback (if and when requested) for an enjoyable, rewarding experience. For those with mobility challenges, I offer personalized suggestions.
A way to foster a deeper connection to nature by painting it. We paint flowers, fruits, landscapes, and other forms of life.
Additionally, the lessons are:
Easy enough to try, yet challenging enough to practice.
Specific enough to follow, yet open enough to play with.
Engaging from start-to-finish - I create my own step-by-step lessons and design them to require no waiting for paint to dry.

About the Instructor
Cassie Zhang Arver
Hi, I’m Cassie Arver! I am a watercolor painter and teacher based in the Bay Area of California. I’ve painted with watercolors since childhood and I’ve loved making art all of my life.
From 2011 to 2015 attended Art Center College of Design where I was classically trained in drawing and painting. After I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration, I worked in multiple fields; as a graphic designer, mural painter, illustrator, and installation artist.
In 2022, after a lot of encouragement from many friends and colleagues, I started teaching art to children in school and after school. I fell in love with it. I also fell back in love with watercolor. Two years later, I met my husband and became a step mom to two lovely girls, after which I decided to start teaching watercolor to seniors.
At first I did it as a fun way to be of service. However, when participants kept coming back week after week, I realized that there was something truly valuable in it for them. Now, it’s become my mission to help as many seniors as I can.
